Job summary

Amarval Partners Ltd in Greater London is seeking a reliable Behavior Support and Transition Assistant to run the school's internal inclusion room.

You will support students with challenging behaviour, coordinate with teachers, and develop reintegration plans to help pupils return to mainstream lessons, while employing de-escalation techniques and strong communication with staff and carers.

Qualifications

• DBS certification to a valid Update Service status or willing to apply for a new one.
• Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or SEND in educational or youth settings.
• Exceptional de-escalation skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication with teachers, parents, and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Respite Space: day-to-day operations of the internal inclusion environment, maintaining a calm, structured atmosphere.
• Academic Support: coordinate with subject teachers to keep isolated students on track with core curriculum work.
• Transition Planning: develop and execute reintegration strategies for returning to mainstream lessons.
• Mentoring & De-escalation: use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Respite Space: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the internal inclusion environment, ensuring a calm, structured, and purposeful atmosphere.
• Academic Support: Coordinate with subject teachers to ensure isolated students remain caught up on their core curriculum work.
• Transition Planning: Develop and execute individualized reintegration strategies to help students confidently return to mainstream lessons.
• Mentoring & De-escalation: Use positive behaviour management and mentoring techniques to teach students emotional self-regulation and coping mechanisms.

Requirements

• DBS Certification: You must hold a valid Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be completely willing to apply for a new one.
• Relevant Experience: Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or SEND needs within a school, alternative provision, or youth work setting.
• Crisis Management: Exceptional de-escalation skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
