Job summary

Brent Council is seeking a committed Behaviour Specialist to support schools in promoting positive behaviour and inclusive practice. The role covers primary, secondary and alternative provision settings, with responsibilities across pupils experiencing SEBD and linked support to reduce exclusions.

You will work with families and multi‑agency partners to implement personalised intervention plans and help pupils stay engaged in education, with a strong focus on safeguarding and collaborative

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of child development and behaviour.
• Experience supporting children and young people with behavioural and emotional needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of pupils and deliver targeted interventions to address behavioural, emotional and engagement needs.
• Work with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to improve outcomes and promote inclusive practice.
• Develop and implement personalised support programmes for pupils at risk of exclusion.
• Support reintegration into mainstream education from alternative provision or following periods of absence.
• Provide one‑to‑one mentoring and support for vulnerable pupils.
• Contribute to training and development for school staff to strengthen behaviour support strategies.
• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the impact of interventions, maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Provide flexible wraparound support for complex cases to ensure successful outcomes.

Salary range: £40,182 - £42,060 London weighting pro rata

Contract: 36 Month Fixed Term- End date 31st March 2029

Hours of work: x1 full-time (36 hours per week) & x1 part-time (18 hours per week) position available - Term Time Working (39 weeks)

The Role

We are seeking a committed and skilled Behaviour Specialist to support schools in promoting positive behaviour, strengthening inclusion and helping to prevent exclusion for children and young people.

This is a rewarding and hands‑on role working across primary and secondary schools, as well as alternative provision settings. You will work directly with pupils experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), delivering targeted interventions and support that help remove barriers to learning and improve engagement, attendance and outcomes.

You will play a key role in helping children and young people remain connected to education, supporting schools to create inclusive environments where every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

The Person

We are looking for a resilient, empathetic and proactive practitioner with experience supporting children and young people with behavioural and emotional needs.

You will:

• Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), alongside a strong understanding of child development and behaviour
• Have experience working with pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, including those at risk of exclusion
• Be confident working within schools and alongside a range of multi‑agency professionals
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting relationships
• Have experience planning and delivering targeted interventions that support behaviour change and engagement
• Be able to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations
• Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
• Be committed to safeguarding, inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
• Be flexible, solution‑focused and able to work collaboratively as part of a wider team
