Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants to join secondary schools in Gateshead and surrounding areas. You will support students inside and outside the classroom, promote positive behaviour and help learners overcome barriers to achieve their potential.

Ideally you have experience with young people or transferable skills from roles such as youth work, teaching assistant or mentoring, and you are passionate about education and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or transferable skills from roles such as youth work, mentoring, teaching assistant.
• Strong communication and listening skills with an empathetic approach.
• Ability to work as part of a school pastoral team and support varied student needs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Building positive relationships with young people and acting as a trusted adult.
• Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions.
• Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Assisting teachers in creating a calm and positive learning environment.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting the school's values.
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
• Supporting during breaktimes, transitions and throughout the school day where required.

Milk Education is working with a number of secondary schools across Gateshead to recruit confident, resilient and enthusiastic Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistants. You'll play a vital role supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting students with behaviour, attendance and engagement.
