Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistant in Gateshead to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work with teaching staff and pastoral teams, helping learners overcome barriers to learning and stay engaged in school life.

Responsibilities include one-to-one and small group interventions, SEMH support, and promoting a calm, positive classroom environment while fostering resilience and emotional regulation among students.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people or transferable skills from roles such as youth work, mentoring or teaching assistant work.

Responsibilities

• Support students with behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Build positive relationships with young people and act as a trusted adult.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
• Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Assist teachers in creating a calm and positive learning environment.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote the school values.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
