Job summary

Overstone Park School in Northampton seeks a Learning Behaviour Mentor on a permanent basis. The role involves supporting pupils with barriers to learning to reach their full potential within our holistic school environment.

The post requires a Level 2/3 in childcare or health and social care, with training offered and at least three years of experience with children or in care. The position is full-time with a 35-hour week and 13 weeks' holiday.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers by addressing learning barriers to help pupils reach their full potential.
  • Predominantly education-based but with a wider remit including working with families and the wider community.
  • Work one-to-one or in small or large groups, acting as a listener, facilitator for learning, encourager, motivator, and role model.
  • Support pupils with additional needs and behaviour impacting attainment.
  • Help improve progress and achievement by minimizing barriers to learning and maximizing pupil participation.

Job Details

Position: learning Behaviour Mentor Full Time Available.

Full Time. Flexible hours available as shown below:

  • £24,000 per annum before the deduction of tax and National insurance.
  • Annual full-time salary for 35 working hours (8.00am to 4.00pm with one hour unpaid lunch break) per week which is paid over 52 weeks.
  • 13 weeks paid holiday annually.

Summary Of a Learning Behaviour Mentor's Role

A job description will be provided on interview:

To provide a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential, or accessing the curriculum.

To Work With a Range Of Pupils, But Give Priority To Those Who Need The Most Help, Especially Those Experiencing Multiple Disadvantages Including
  • Children with special or medical needs.
  • Challenging behavior.
  • Children with a statement of special educational needs.
  • To predominantly be education based but will have a wider remit including working with families and the wider community.
To work with children on a one-to-one basis or in small or large groups, acting as a:
  • Listener.
  • Facilitator for learning.
  • Encourager.
  • Motivator.
  • Role model.

  • To work with pupils additional needs and behavior has significant impact upon their attainment.
  • To support the ethos of the school.
  • To improve progress and achievement by helping to minimize barriers to learning and maximize pupil participation.
