Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting Behaviour Mentors / Learning Support Assistants to support a primary pupil in the NP20 area with ADHD and behavioural needs. The role is based in local primary schools with 1:1 support, focused on self-regulation and engagement.

You will work closely with classroom teachers, SENCo, and parents, following individual plans, using de-escalation strategies, and contributing to a calm, structured learning environment. Weekly pay and CPD training are provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with ADHD and behavioural needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ADHD and behavioural needs
  • Support the pupil's attention, engagement, emotional regulation, and learning outcomes
  • Follow individual support plans, behaviour strategies, and risk assessments
  • Implement positive behaviour management techniques and consistent routines
  • Use de-escalation strategies to support challenging behaviours when required
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, parents, and external professionals

Pay: From £92.63 per day (weekly pay)


Teaching Personnel are working with primary schools across the NP20 area seeking dedicated, patient, and resilient Behaviour Mentors / Learning Support Assistants to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and behavioural needs.


This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who can remain calm under pressure, build strong relationships, and provide consistent support to help pupils develop self-regulation skills, stay engaged in learning, and thrive within the school environment.



  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ADHD and behavioural needs

  • Support the pupil's attention, engagement, emotional regulation, and learning outcomes

  • Follow individual support plans, behaviour strategies, and risk assessments

  • Implement positive behaviour management techniques and consistent routines

  • Use de-escalation strategies to support challenging behaviours when required

  • Support transitions between activities and different areas of the school

  • Adapt learning tasks to maintain focus, motivation, and participation

  • Use movement breaks, sensory strategies, and structured interventions to support concentration

  • Encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive social interactions

  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, parents, and external professionals

  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Experience supporting children with ADHD and/or additional learning needs

  • Understanding of ADHD and its impact on attention, impulse control, emotional regulation, and behaviour

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to implement structured routines and maintain consistent boundaries

  • Experience using positive reinforcement and reward-based strategies

  • Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and SEND practices

  • Ability to identify behavioural triggers and respond appropriately

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Proactive, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

  • Positive, patient, and approachable demeanour

  • Resilient and calm under pressure

  • Firm but nurturing, with clear and consistent expectations

  • Understanding and empathetic towards children with ADHD and behavioural needs

  • Emotionally intelligent and able to build trusting relationships

  • Confident supporting pupils with emotional regulation and impulsive behaviours

  • Reliable, committed, and professional

  • Able to motivate and engage pupils who may struggle with focus or participation

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

  • Weekly pay from £92.63 per day

  • Full-time role from September with integration available this term

  • Flexible working arrangements during the integration period
