Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Behaviour & Engagement Teaching Assistant to join a calm and structured school setting in Gateshead. You will support students in lessons, help with focus and engagement, and build positive relationships throughout the school day.

The role requires confidence, positivity, approachability and consistency, with opportunities to develop through long-term roles and training.

Qualifications

• No extensive classroom experience required.
• Candidates should be confident, positive, approachable, consistent and proactive.
• Must be comfortable talking to young people and getting involved rather than standing back.

Responsibilities

• Support students within lessons to help focus and engagement.

• Participate in breakfast club and eat lunch with students.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
Pay: £98–£120 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Behaviour & Engagement Teaching Assistant to join a calm and structured school setting in Gateshead.

This is an ideal role for someone who is confident, outgoing and naturally good at building relationships with teenagers.

You don't need to be an experienced behaviour specialist. The school is looking for someone who can engage pupils, maintain professional boundaries and become a positive presence throughout the school day.

Your Day

You will be actively involved in school life, including:

• Supporting students within lessons
• Helping pupils remain focused and engaged
• Building positive relationships
• Supporting students who may struggle with behaviour or engagement
• Reinforcing expectations and boundaries
• Supporting literacy and written work
• Getting involved in breakfast club
• Eating lunch alongside students
• Joining in with social activities such as games and other lunchtime activities
• Supporting students during the wider school day
• Helping maintain a calm and positive environment

The school places a strong emphasis on relationships before behaviour, with staff expected to be approachable, consistent and proactive.
