Aneurin Bevan University Health Board support flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated behaviour change practitioner to work as part of a growing, dynamic and busy team contributing to improving the health and well-being of the population of Gwent. This will include providing specialist behaviour support and advice to people who want to quit smoking, as well as being equipped with the ability to support people to make changes to their diet, physical activity and alcohol use where appropriate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work independently in a variety of community, primary care and secondary care settings across Gwent, providing support and interventions to individuals and groups. They will be a core part of a place-based neighbourhood team and will support building the capability of behaviour change amongst professionals and across neighbourhood teams through the delivery of formal and informal training. They will apply relevant theory and behavioural science approaches to inform and deliver a range of health promoting interventions, including immunisation and screening programmes, and advise on approaches to service delivery, communications and engagement.

The post will be driven by the needs of the population and the business and will require the post holder to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications And Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Educated to Master’s level or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience of working at a senior level
  • Evidence of continuing professional / personal development
  • Good understanding of national and local health and social care policy context and drivers
  • Good understanding of approaches to community well-being, prevention and early intervention
  • Broad knowledge of Assets Based Community Development
  • Knowledge of change and quality improvement approaches and methodologies
  • Understanding of project management methodologies

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience of working in a senior role in health, local government or third sector
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, developing and implementing major projects or change programmes
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully with diverse partners across a range of organisations, understanding the “political” context in which they operate

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of Community Development approaches
