Academics is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Support Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in Todmorden and Roachdale. You will work with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and academic progress.

The role suits patient, empathetic individuals who live in Todmorden or nearby areas and are committed to SEN education as part of long-term placements with regular pay and ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Understanding of autism, ADHD, trauma-informed practice, or other additional needs.
• Calm, confident and nurturing approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with behavioural or emotional difficulties.
• Implement individual behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies effectively.
• Encourage and model positive behaviour and resilience.
• Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and supported.
• Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support for each pupil.
