Job summary

Ardagh Group in Barnsley is seeking a driven BEC Engineer for ring-fenced 12-hour shift rotations on the Barnsley Plant. You will carry out setup, repair and maintenance on cold end equipment and contribute to efficient job changes in the Brand Enhancement Department.

The role requires a recognised mechanical or electrical engineering qualification or equivalent, with an emphasis on fault diagnosis, drawings interpretation, and hands-on assembly and repair.

Qualifications

  • Recognised mechanical/electrical engineering qualification or equivalent essential.
  • Experienced craftsman preferred.
  • Familiar with cold end equipment and processes.
  • Inspection / Bottle transportation.
  • Fault recognition and good problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding engineering drawings.
  • Set up, adjust, repair, dismantle/reassemble, diagnose faults.
  • IT / computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Modify and adjust cold end equipment as necessary to maintain efficient operations and minimise downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with employees to maintain an effective well-informed team.

Role description

What we offer
  • Salary based on Grade 7 of the harmonised pay scales. Salary min £37,000 - £42,433 max. (inclusive of shift allowance)
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
  • 3 Crew shift rota 12hr days/12hr nights - Week 1 (2 days, 2 nights), Week 2 (3 days), Week 3 (2 nights).
  • 13.5 days holiday plus statutory holidays (some holidays built into shift rota.
