Job summary

Havant & South Downs College is seeking a part-time Be Active/Be Healthy coordinator to develop and oversee sport and fitness programs for 16-19 year old students across Havant and South Downs campuses. You will link with Be Active and Elevate teams to integrate activities and promote wider participation.

The role requires coaching qualifications in more than one sport, a vocational sport/leisure background, and GCSEs in English and Maths. A vehicle and driving licence are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualification in sport and leisure or equivalent.
• NGB coaching qualification in more than one sport.
• GCSE English and Maths C or above (or equivalent).
• Own vehicle and a full driving licence.
• Experience planning and leading progressive coaching sessions.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop the Be Active and Be Healthy programmes within the Elevate programme as directed.
• Act as a link person within FE and local sporting infrastructure.
• Develop, promote, organise and supervise sport and fitness clubs on Havant and South Downs campus.
• Collaborate with Elevate leads to unite Be Active and Be Healthy with Elevate.
• Work with local sports partners to encourage community participation in sport.
• Promote student engagement with sports and fitness activities.

Job description

10 hours per week, anticipated for 40 weeks per year. To develop Personal Development opportunities relating to health, sport and fitness for all students at HSDC to ensure the College's provision is Ofsted rated Outstanding. To increase and record participation in 'Be Active' extra-curricular sport, exercise and fitness activities and clubs for 16-19 year old students at South Downs or Havant. To develop, promote, organise and supervise team sports, fixtures and training/coaching at South Downs or Havant campus.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop the Be Active and Be Healthy programmes within the College's Elevate programme, as directed by Be Active Lead or Head of Faculty.
• To act as a link person, in the context of FE, within the College and local sporting infrastructure, through County Sports Partnerships, NGBs and Community Sports Networks.
• Develop, promote, organise and supervise sport and physical exercise clubs and societies on the Havant and South Downs campus.
• Work with relevant Elevate programme leads and mentors to integrate and unite Be Active and Be Healthy activities with the wider Elevate programme.
• To work with key local sporting partners to signpost more young people into participation in sport in the community.
• Work effectively with the Head of Faculty, Sports and Public Services to promote and increase student engagement with sports and fitness activities.
  A Vocational Qualification in Sport and Leisure and/or commercial training qualifications.
• NGB coaching qualification in more than one relevant sport.
• English and Maths at GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
• Access to own vehicle and full driving licence.
• Experience of planning and leading progressive coaching sessions leading to sustainable community participation.
