The ideal candidate has a minimum BTEC/NVQ Level 3 and an IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement, plus forklift experience and a strong commitment to safe working

Qualifications

• Minimum BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field.
• IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
• Experience assembling/disassembling complex mechanical and electrical components.
• Awareness of automotive high-voltage electrical systems.
• Experience operating forklift trucks.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical information.
• A willingness to learn and a strong commitment to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Remove high-voltage batteries from vehicles to module level.
• Connect batteries to cycling equipment for discharging and testing.
• Diagnose issues and involve battery engineers where required.
• Set up and operate basic diagnostic test equipment.
• Record disassembly progress and maintain traceability documentation.
• Maintain equipment in line with approved procedures and SOPs.
• Follow and help develop risk assessments and 5S safety standards.

Battery Technician – Darlaston

Pay: £15.00–£22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 07:00–16:15 | Friday, 07:00–15:00

This role would suit a mechanically competent technician with experience working on electric/hybrid vehicle systems and complex electromechanical components.

Duties will include:

• Removing and disassembling high-voltage batteries from vehicle to module level.
• Connecting batteries to battery cycling equipment for discharging and testing.
• Diagnosing issues and involving battery engineers where required.
• Setting up and operating basic diagnostic test equipment.
• Recording disassembly progress and maintaining documentation for traceability.
• Maintaining equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
• Following and helping develop standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Maintaining a safe, tidy workplace to 5S standards and using the required PPE.
