Qualifications

• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Remove and disassemble high-voltage batteries from vehicles to module level.
• Connect batteries to battery cycling equipment for discharging and testing.
• Diagnose issues and involve battery engineers where required.
• Set up and operate basic diagnostic test equipment.
• Record disassembly progress and maintain documentation for traceability.
• Maintain equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
• Follow and help develop standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Maintain a safe, tidy workplace to 5S standards and use PPE as required.

Battery Technician - Darlaston

Pay: £15.00-£22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 07:00-16:15 | Friday, 07:00-15:00

Industrial Recruitment Solutions Ltd (IRS) are inviting applications for an upcoming Battery Disassembly Technician opportunity with a battery recycling operation in Darlaston.

This role would suit a mechanically competent technician with experience working on electric/hybrid vehicle systems and complex electromechanical components.

Duties will include:

• Removing and disassembling high-voltage batteries from vehicle to module level.
• Connecting batteries to battery cycling equipment for discharging and testing.
• Diagnosing issues and involving battery engineers where required.
• Setting up and operating basic diagnostic test equipment.
• Recording disassembly progress and maintaining documentation for traceability.
• Maintaining equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
• Following and helping develop standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Maintaining a safe, tidy workplace to 5S standards and using the required PPE.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum BTEC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
• An IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
• Experience assembling and disassembling complex mechanical and electrical components.
• Awareness of automotive high-voltage electrical systems.
• Experience operating forklift trucks.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical information.
• A willingness to learn and a strong commitment to safe working practices.

An understanding of battery system fundamentals would be advantageous.
