Our work is firmly focused on market fundamentals — considering end-to-end value chains, international trade flows and macroeconomic trends. Our value proposition centres around the quality of our analysts, the depth of our data and our ability to leverage Argus’ wider strengths — 55 years of commodity markets expertise, unrivalled global networks and proprietary databases.

As we enter an exciting expansion phase, we are now looking for an experienced, passionate and innovative Manager, Battery Materials. At its core this role will lead the delivery, improvement and expansion of our existing battery materials service; provide inspiring thought leadership to the market; build enduring relationships with the industry and position Argus as the voice clients turn to when they want help to understand the mine-to-manufacturer market.

Reporting to the Global Head of Metals, this is a great opportunity for someone with a background in analysing and forecasting aspects of the battery materials value chain and who wants to deepen their expertise, lead a team of analysts, engage with senior industry stakeholders and play a prominent role in the development of the next generation of Argus Analytics services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of Argus’ outlook for the battery materials markets, continuously evolving the analysis of the industry by identifying and quantifying major market trends and risks;
  • Develop and continuously improve Argus’s fundamental market models, translating modelling outputs into clear market views, price forecasts and scenario analysis;
  • Design, deliver and enhance client-facing deliverables including reports, presentations, datasets, webinars and consulting projects, while ensuring analytical excellence and consistency across outputs;
  • Build strong interlinkages with other adjacent Argus Services to deliver unique and compelling market perspectives to clients;
  • Represent Argus Analytics as a battery materials subject matter expert at leading international conferences, industry forums and executive-level client engagements;
  • Work closely with Argus' commercial organisation to significantly grow our Analytics’ client base through thought leadership, demonstrations, client meetings and business development activities;
  • Provide mentoring and analytical leadership to junior team members, helping to develop capabilities, best practices and market expertise across the Analytics team;
  • Identify opportunities for new analytical products, datasets and services that strengthen Argus' competitive position and create additional commercial value.
Skills and Experience sought
  • 10+ years of experience in battery materials or related markets, gained within market intelligence, consulting, trading, utilities, energy companies or similar environments;
  • Educated to degree level (2.1 or above);
  • Strong understanding of global battery material value chains, market fundamentals, pricing mechanisms and trade flows;
  • Highly numerate, with experience analysing large, complex datasets efficiently and accurately, supported by excellent attention to detail;
  • Intellectually curious with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and clients;
  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint. Awareness of other statistical and programming languages such as R is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead projects and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines;
  • Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus Analytics’ Services.
