Job summary

ARCA is seeking a Senior Battery Design Engineer on a contract basis to join its battery team in Bristol, with 2 days on site each week. The role focuses on detailed mechanical design and design ownership of high‑performance battery pack assemblies.

You will design housings, enclosures and internal components, using injection moulding, sheet metal and cast parts, while considering creepage, clearance, busbars and HV electrical factors.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical / product design experience within battery, EV, automotive or aerospace.
• Hands-on detail design and design ownership experience.
• Experience with injection moulding, sheet metal, cast components and sealing.
• Good understanding of HV electrical considerations within mechanical design.
• Experience designing smaller-scale assemblies for manufacture.
• CATIA / 3DEXPERIENCE experience.

This is a hands‑on role within the Battery team, focused on detailed mechanical design and design ownership across high-performance battery pack assemblies. The work:

• Detailed mechanical design and development of battery pack assemblies


• Design of housings, enclosures and internal battery components


• Injection-moulded components, sheet metal, cast parts and sealing


• Packaging and integration of HV components


• Designing with consideration for creepage & clearance, busbars and electrical bolted joints


• Supporting designs from concept through to manufacture and assembly


• Working closely with electrical, manufacturing, analysis and wider engineering teams
