Position Overview

Bartenders provide positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. They play an integral role in ensuring our customers have an exceptional dining experience by providing food and beverages for patrons and serving them throughout the restaurant and bar while following all state and local laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

1. Mix and serve drinks following set standard recipes.
2. Organize and set up the workspace before, during, and after each shift, including stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and prep work.
3. Knowledgeably present menus and recommendations to guests.
4. Greet and welcome guests to the restaurant while maintaining a professional appearance.
5. Operate a computerized point of sale system, completing financial transactions accurately, making change, and running credit cards.
6. Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
7. Must have or be able to obtain an Alaska Food Handler’s Card.
8. Must have a valid alcohol safety card for the State of Alaska.
9. Minimum age of 21 years required to serve alcohol in the State of Alaska.
10. Must pass a pre-employment background check.
11. Minimum age of 18 years required to reside in company housing, where available.
12. Participate in HAP’s sustainability program, "Sustain Alaska & the Yukon," actively recycling, reducing waste, and educating guests about our environmental commitment.
13. Participate in HAP’s safety culture to ensure a safe workplace and guest experience.
14. Deliver excellent customer service to guests, coworkers, and vendors.
15. Support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
16. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess cannot sponsor employment visas at this time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, work in a team or group environment.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Support and comply with company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
• Stand/walk/work on feet for at least 8 hours per day.
