Role: Pret Barista
A Pret Barista works as part of a team in a Pret shop to ensure all drinks prepared by the Barista meet Pret standards.
The role focuses on delivering excellent quality, knowledgeable service, and creating a positive Pret “Buzz”. The Barista manages back counter operations, maintains cleanliness, and supports team training to ensure customers receive the drinks they expect.
The Barista is an integral part of the shop team and will perform Team Member Star duties as needed.
Right Pret People: Barista Prepared Drink Training
- Coach and train Team Member Star Coffee and Baristas in Training on drink preparation and standards.
- Coordinate with the TMT to plan and execute training.
- Participate in coffee team briefs, meetings, courses, and conferences related to Barista Prepared Drinks.
- Keep training materials up to date.
- Follow Pret’s dress code and wear the correct uniform.
- Engage positively with customers and team about Pret’s Coffee Story and Menu.
- Manage queues efficiently.
- Serve drinks promptly.
- Ensure clear and consistent coffee calling.
- Provide visually appealing latte art to wow customers.
Delicious Food & Drink: Quality & Knowledge
- Prepare all drinks to Pret standards.
- Model and maintain knowledge of Pret’s coffee and standards.
- Communicate confidently about Pret’s drinks and standards.
- Maintain milk and coffee quality through tasting and weighing.
- Monitor results from Confidence visits, Mystery Shopper, and 3D Review.
- Update team on new product launches and standards.
- Report ingredient quality issues to management.
- Familiarize with product names and standards used in other retailers.
Shop Cleanliness & Maintenance
- Maintain equipment, checklists, and cleanliness standards.
- View the counter from a customer perspective and keep it clean.
- Perform daily checks, calibrations, and safety tests.
- Follow health & safety and food safety laws and standards.
- Take responsibility for safety and hygiene, completing all necessary training.
Cost Control & Waste Management
- Manage waste levels of ingredients.
- Address stock variances and waste issues as directed by your Manager.
Sales Growth
- Set and share weekly sales targets.
- Monitor sales of drinks versus total sales and product mix.
- Ensure adequate stock levels.
- Use promotional waste to sample products and recognize regular customers via Joy of Pret.
