Job description

We're currently recruiting a dedicated Bar Staff to help ensure the smooth running of operations in Defence on a part-time basis, contracted to 16 hours per week.

Here's an idea of what your shift patterns will be: 4 out of 7 days. Please note: This role is contracted to 50 weeks per year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve food, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks to customers in a professional, friendly manner.
• Deliver excellent customer service at all times, both at the bar and in dining areas.
• Set up, maintain, and clear down bar and dining areas before, during, and after service.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards in all front-of-house areas.
• Operate tills, handle cash and card transactions accurately, and follow company procedures.
• Restock service counters, condiment stations, and bar stock as required.
• Monitor customer behaviour and ensure responsible service of alcohol in line with licensing laws.
• Support the catering and events team during functions and busy periods.

Ideal Candidate:

• Friendly, approachable, and professional with strong customer service skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities, comfortable engaging with customers.
• Previous experience in hospitality, bar work, or catering is desirable but not essential.
• Confident handling cash, card transactions, and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Well-presented with a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge and awareness of licensing laws (training can be provided).
