Taste Hospitality Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Bar Manager for a cosy country inn in a picturesque Carlisle village. You will lead a small team, oversee daily bar operations, and ensure a warm, welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, exceptional hospitality, stock control and building relationships with regulars. Staff accommodation is available. Sponsorship is not offered, and right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager or supervisory position within a quality pub or bar.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering excellent customer service.
• A friendly, approachable and engaging personality, with the ability to build an instant rapport with people from all walks of life.
• Strong leadership skills and a positive, hands-on approach.
• Good organisational skills and an understanding of bar operations.
• The ability to create a welcoming environment while maintaining professional standards.
• Personality is just as important as experience for this position.
• We are looking for someone who remembers a regular’s favourite drink, enjoys chatting with customers and takes real pride in making their pub a place people want to return to.

The Role

As Bar Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the bar, maintaining excellent standards while creating a relaxed, friendly and enjoyable environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building strong relationships with regular customers and welcoming new guests, helping to create a loyal customer base.
• Being a visible, hands-on presence behind the bar, leading by example and ensuring consistently excellent service.
• Creating a warm, welcoming and sociable atmosphere that encourages customers to return.
• Leading, motivating and supporting the bar team, ensuring everyone delivers friendly and professional service.
• Overseeing daily bar operations, including stock management, ordering, cash handling and maintaining standards.
• Bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to help develop the business and strengthen its connection with the local community.
• Ensuring the bar is always well-presented, efficiently run and a place where people genuinely enjoy spending time.

About You

We are looking for someone with a warm, outgoing and professional personality who is naturally confident when engaging with customers.
