About The Role

UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE

+ make a difference for every patient

Due to the increase in treatments and care we provide to our patients, we have openings for additional Healthcare Assistants to join our Theatres team on an ad-hoc basis at Emersons Green hospital, Bristol.

This will be a supportive role, where you will play a fundamental part in ensuring a smooth patient journey by following and documenting the complete patient pathway.

This is a Bank/casual position,

offering flexible working hours

between Monday to Saturday from 07:30 to 17:00.

What you'll be doing:
As one of our Theatre Healthcare Assistants, you will assist members of the theatre department, setting up theatres ready for patients' treatments. The setup will depend on each individual patient's case.

You will be expected to have up-to-date knowledge of your patient by investigating the patient pathway. It will then be your responsibility to add to and follow that pathway, ensuring particulars such as consent are obtained before any treatment is carried out.

Your patients will be anesthetized, so there will be limited verbal interaction with them. You will need to ensure that your patient is prepared and ready with all necessary checks conducted prior to treatment. You'll be ensuring that your patient receives a high standard of care by carrying out routine monitoring.

You will need to competently and accurately update patient records, ensuring the patient pathway is being followed and documented.

As the Healthcare Assistant, you will be conscious of health, safety, and hygiene aspects in a theatre. You will not only ensure the theatre is clean but also monitor for potential hazards, ensuring they are made safe or quickly brought to the attention of the Ward Manager.

What we'll look for in you:

The ideal candidate will have past surgical experience within a hospital or clinical environment and will have already completed the NVQ level 1 & 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

You will be a strong communicator, confident in conversing at all levels, both written and verbal. You will communicate with a wide range of people, from internal colleagues in varied departments to patients and their families.

You will be computer literate, confident in writing letters and emailing internal and external parties relating to your patients' care. Familiarity with MS Office tools and examples of quickly learning new systems is essential, as you will use our in-house system daily.
