Job summary

Swanton Care in Burnley is seeking Bank Support Workers to cover days, evenings, sleep ins and weekends in our supported living service. A driver is essential as residents have mobility cars. You will provide 1-2-1 care to adults with learning disabilities, autism and brain injury.

The role requires empathy, reliability and the ability to work lone shifts; shift work and weekends are included. Training and ongoing development are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one care and support to residents with complex needs, promoting independence and daily living skills.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and daily activities while ensuring dignity and privacy.
  • Monitor health, mood and wellbeing, report changes to the supervisor and document observations.
  • Support residents to participate in community activities and social events.
  • Maintain accurate records and compliance with care plans and safeguarding policies.

This role will be providing 1-2-1 care to residents with complex learning disabilities and it is preferable that you drive for the role.

The position involves lone working. Shift work and weekends included. You may also be required to work sleep in shifts.


Being a driver is essential but it is not essential that you own a car.


The role


  • The main focus of the support is to enable the people we support to live a full and happy life, to run their own home and to take part in a range of activities in the community

  • Provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans

  • Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way

  • Facilitating social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice

  • General housekeeping duties that can include shopping, domestic duties as well as elements of personal care

  • As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents

We provide support to adults with a range of disabilities including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, mental health problems and sensory impairment in the Northwest of England.
