We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to become part of our SLT teams at Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital. This post is via the staff Bank to support with filling SLT vacancies.

The SLT team provides an integrated therapy service in the following areas:

  • Acute general medicine and elderly care
  • Acute stroke
  • Respiratory, surgical and critical care
  • Voice & head and neck cancer

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload and supervise other staff as appropriate, whilst being supported by highly skilled and experienced band 7 staff in the specialty.Alongside specialist clinical teams you will be joininga team of 18 Speech and Language Therapists and SLTAs.

  • As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist, evidence based SLT assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult patients in acute and rehabilitation services.
  • This post is a rotational post in the specialty areas of Healthcare Services for Elderly People, acute general medicine, rapid response, respiratory and surgical, critical care, voice, head and neck cancer, acute stroke.
  • The post holder will develop their competencies within each specialty area working within the departmental competency framework, taking an active role in continuing professional development.
  • Deliver education and training to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals including nursing staff, junior therapists and assistants.

You will be working in a rewarding and challenging clinical environment. The Therapies department at Barnet Hospital is committed to ensuring bank staff feel supported with regular supervision and access to in-service training sessions.
