Role overview

The post involves delivering high-quality, safe nursing care in accordance with NMC standards. Responsibilities include leading assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating person-centered care, maintaining accurate records, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Only registered nurses with an NMC-recognized qualification are eligible for Band 6 roles.

Main duties
  1. Provide expert, holistic care to chemotherapy patients and their families.
  2. Manage caseloads and ensure safe delivery of Systematic Anticancer Therapy (SACT) in line with national and trust guidelines.
  3. Administer SACT safely, including for clinical trials.
  4. Take managerial responsibility in the absence of or as delegated by the Unit Manager/Nurse in Charge.
  5. Support the development of nursing staff within the unit.
  6. Act as a clinical resource and a positive role model, emphasizing high-quality, courteous, patient-focused service and confidentiality.
