Job summary

SpaMedica is the UK’s largest provider of NHS cataract surgery and is renowned for patient care and safety. This Bank Scrub Nurse role in Hull supports our ophthalmic theatre teams and upholds high standards in line with our values and data-protection commitments.

The post requires scrub experience, adherence to NMC guidelines, and the ability to work within a team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes. DBS/clearance will be required.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration and current practice
• Scrub experience in theatre settings, ideally ophthalmic
• Adherence to NMC guidelines for safe medicines handling and record keeping
• Respect and maintain patient confidentiality and data protection requirements

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Admission and discharge of patients on a theatre day.
• Administer drugs in accordance with NMC guidelines for safe handling.
• Adhere to NMC guidelines for record keeping.
• Provide scrub experience for clinical procedures.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting accidents or incidents.
• Assist the consultant and clinical team in ophthalmic care delivery.
• Prepare areas and equipment for procedures.
• Ensure correct storage of equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control and maintain par levels.
• Manage theatre equipment daily.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.

Location: Building B, Willerby Hill Business Park, Willerby Court, Hull, HU10 6FE
Hours: Zero Hour Contract
Salary: Bank Pay of £23.50

Responsibilities of the Bank Scrub nurse:

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Admission and discharge of patients on a theatre day.
• Administer drugs in accordance to the NMC guidelines for the safe and secure handling of medicines.
• Adhere to The NMC guidelines for record keeping
• Provide scrub experience for clinical procedures.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Assist the consultant and clinical team in the delivery of all ophthalmic care.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
