Job summary

Priory Group at Priory Hospital Kemple View in Blackburn, Lancashire is seeking a Bank Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our compassionate team. You will deliver patient-centred mental health care within level 2 rehabilitation and secure services for adult males, operating on a bank hours pattern.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, promote wellbeing, maintain accurate records, and adhere to NMC guidance.

Qualifications

• Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration.
• Minimum of 6 months post-registration experience in mental health or learning disabilities.
• Completed preceptorship programme.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and knowledge of NMC guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver individualised mental health nursing care with patient and family involvement.
• Act as the named nurse for allocated patients and review care plans.
• Recognise changes in patients' mental health and respond to maintain safety.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team, prioritise nursing duties and delegate tasks.
• Ensure safe nursing practice, medicines management, safeguarding, and accurate documentation.

Priory Hospital Kemple View has an opportunity for a Bank Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. Located in Blackburn, Lancashire, Priory Hospital Kemple View is a 90-bedded hospital, offering level 2 rehabilitation, and secure services, for adult males. We can support people with a mental health condition and/or a personality disorder.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver individualised mental health nursing care, involving patients and their families or carers in decisions and care planning.
• Act as the named nurse for allocated patients, monitoring their progress and reviewing care plans to ensure their needs are met.
• Recognise and respond to changes in patients' mental health, behaviour or overall condition, taking appropriate action to maintain their safety and wellbeing.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, prioritising nursing duties, delegating tasks appropriately and taking charge of the ward when required.
• Ensure safe and compliant nursing practice, including medicines management, safeguarding, accurate documentation and adherence to the NMC Code and Priory policies.

Essential for the role

• Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration.
• Minimum of 6 months' post-registration experience in a mental health or learning disabilities care environment.
• Completed preceptorship programme.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and knowledge of NMC guidelines and professional practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to assess patients, maintain accurate records and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Beneficial Experience

• Experience acting as a named nurse and managing individual patient care plans.
• Experience reviewing patients' progress and responding to changes in their mental health or behaviour.
• Experience coordinating shifts, prioritising nursing duties and delegating tasks appropriately.Experience supporting or mentoring newly qualified nurses as a preceptor.
• Experience in medicines management, safeguarding and applying the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
