Job summary

NHS Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join the Phlebotomy Bank at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth. The role is bank/relief, mainly weekend sessions 8am–12pm, with occasional weekday shifts. Training will be provided and Welsh language ability is desirable.

The post supports a busy pathology department; flexible hours and a supportive team environment are offered as part of NHS services in Mid Wales.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and language skills.
• Welsh speaker (Level 1).
• Phlebotomy training certificate.
• Transfusion pre-sampling certificate.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience.
• Experience of working in a clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples by venepuncture from wards and outpatients.
• Assist in provision of an efficient, caring Phlebotomy service.
• Work as part of a team to support a smooth running blood collection service.
• Be flexible to service needs and hours, with weekend and occasional weekday shifts.
