Job summary

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join the Bank team. In this role you will support the Pharmacy Department in delivering safe, efficient medicines across the hospital and work within a friendly, professional environment.

This bank position offers flexible shifts, weekly pay, and development opportunities, with training and a supportive Resourcing Team to help you progress while contributing to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Previous customer-facing experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience working within a team environment.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
  • Basic awareness of health, safety, and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work accurately and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the delivery of pharmaceutical care across the hospital.
  • Supporting the safe handling, storage, movement, and management of medicines.
  • Assisting with stock control and stock management activities.
  • Updating and maintaining pharmacy records and electronic systems.
  • Supporting the Pharmacy Team to ensure medicines are supplied accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and patients as part of routine daily activities.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and development of pharmacy services.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and service excellence.
  • Supporting compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, infection prevention, and security.
  • Taking responsibility for ongoing learning and personal development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

Desirable
  • Previous pharmacy experience.
  • S/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or working towards the qualification).
  • Experience within a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Experience in stock management, checking, monitoring, and administrative processes.
