Job summary

Spire Healthcare, The Montefiore Hospital in Hove, is seeking a Bank Perioperative Practitioner - Scrub, Orthopaedics. You will join our Bank theatre team and use orthopaedic scrub expertise to support surgical procedures from start to finish.

The role requires registration (NMC or HCPC) and significant perioperative theatre experience, with strong orthopaedic scrub skills. Flexible hours and competitive bank rates are offered, with training and development support.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC).
  • Significant perioperative theatre experience.
  • Strong orthopaedic scrub experience and confidence in a variety of procedures.
  • Good understanding of patient safety, governance and theatre best practice.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Consultant led surgeries that vary in complexity and specialism.
  • Carry out Scrub duties in a theatre setting.
  • Support in assessing patient health across a complex caseload.
  • Develop care plans considering pathway, perioperative risks and wellbeing.
  • Promote best practice and contribute to quality improvements.

The Montefiore Hospital is looking for a Perioperative Practitioner - Scrub, Orthopaedics to join our Bank team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced theatre professional who enjoys the flexibility of bank work while continuing to make a real difference to patient care. Working within our Theatre team, you'll have the chance to use your orthopaedic scrub expertise, support surgical procedures from start to finish and work alongside dedicated clinical colleagues in a role that is both varied and rewarding.

About the Role

As a Bank Perioperative Practitioner - Scrub, Orthopaedics, you will play an important role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of surgical services. You'll be part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre colleagues to help ensure patients receive outstanding care throughout their hospital journey. This is a hands‑on role where your experience, judgement and attention to detail will make a valuable contribution every day.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in Consultant led surgeries that vary in complexity and specialism
  • You will be required to provide exemplary patient care carrying out Scrub duties in a theatre setting.
  • Supporting in assessing patient’s health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload
  • Develop care plans that are appropriate to the patient, taking into consideration the care pathway, perioperative risks and their wellbeing.
  • Promoting best practice and contributing towards quality improvements

Contract: Bank

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30-18:00

Who We're Looking For
  • Registration as a Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Significant experience working within a perioperative theatre environment.
  • Strong orthopaedic scrub experience and confidence supporting a variety of surgical procedures.
  • A good understanding of patient safety, clinical governance and theatre best practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • The ability to work independently when required while also being a supportive team member.
  • A calm, professional and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to support colleagues across the department.
  • A commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and ongoing professional development.
