Job summary

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow is seeking enthusiastic Bank Healthcare Assistants to join our inpatient unit on a flexible, as-required basis.

As a Bank Healthcare Assistant you will provide person-centred care under supervision, assist with daily living activities, monitor patient conditions, and support admissions, discharges and end-of-life care while maintaining dignity and comfort for patients and their families.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working in a health or social care setting.
• Demonstrate empathy, compassion and person-centred care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Work effectively as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative.
• Have good organisational and time management skills.
• Are committed to ongoing professional development and willing to undertake relevant qualifications where required.
• Experience supporting patients with palliative care needs would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Providing personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting and assisting with meals.
• Supporting patients to maintain independence, dignity and quality of life.
• Monitoring and reporting changes in patients' conditions to nursing staff.
• Offering emotional support to patients, families and carers.
• Assisting with admissions, discharges and end-of-life care.
• Maintaining accurate care records and ensuring a safe, clean environment.
• Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
