Job summary

Spire Healthcare in Seaham is recruiting a Bank Outpatients Advisor for the Patient Support Centre on a zero-hours contract. The role supports outpatient booking, diary management, and patient communications.

The position requires strong communication, calm under pressure, and meticulous organisation, with IT literacy and confidentiality adherence as essential traits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain an efficient bookings system for all outpatients using a computerised system (SAP)
  • Manage the telephone lines in an effective and timely manner
  • Provide and maintain an efficient diary for all outpatient clinics including both consultant and nurse led clinics (making and changing appointments, clinic changes and cancellations)
  • Manage and process patient referral letters and any associated documentation, confirming details with patients/consultants and secretaries as appropriate
  • Process patient appointment letters and any associated documentation, confirming details with patients/consultants and secretaries as appropriate
  • Respond to enquiries from patients, members of the public and consultants in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner either by telephone or letter

Bank Outpatients Advisor | Seaham Patient Support Centre | Bank (Zero-Hours Contract)

We are currently recruiting Bank Outpatients Advisors to join our Patient Support Centre based in Seaham. This role is offered on a zero-hours (bank) contract, with shifts provided on a flexible, ad-hoc basis to support service demand, including cover for busy periods, annual leave, and sickness absence.

Please note that this role does not offer guaranteed or fixed hours and is therefore well suited to individuals seeking flexible work alongside other commitments.

Desirable Criteria
  • Previous experience in call centre environment
  • Experience working within a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Working Hours

This is a zero-hours bank position.
The Patient Support Centre operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm, with shifts scheduled within these hours on an as-needed basis.
