Job description

We’re one of the largest not for profit care provider in the UK, specialising in providing high quality, person-centred care for older people, in care homes and extra care housing nationwide.

At OSJCT we care about our residents and we care about each other. That means you’ll enjoy great career development working for an expanding organisation. Because we’re a not for profit trust, we invest every penny we make in the people who live in our homes and the people who work here too. This means better quality care and lovely homes for our residents, along with competitive wages and great training and development for our people.

We provide outstanding care, working closely with leading experts on dementia and elderly care. And we’re currently modernising our portfolio of care homes – refurbishing our existing homes and moving into new, inspiring, contemporary care homes too.

As we expand nationwide, we need more people with the right mix of skills, passion and ambition to help us grow even more.

Registered Nurse - Bank

Pay rate: £24.49ph Monday to Friday, £24.89ph weekends

Contracted hours: Bank shifts to cover annual leave and sickness

Located in the historic Old Sarum, just north of Salisbury, Avon Court and Bourne House make up Avonbourne Care Centre . Each offers an elegant environment with compassionate, individualised care in welcoming, relaxing, and homely households. The Avonbourne team provides tailored support for residents dependent on their own requirements, from a little extra help with some day to day tasks on our residential households, through to more specialist support with nursing and dementia needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a Registered Nurse who thrives on making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people?

Are you qualified with a current NMC pin?

Our care teams make a real difference every day and your professionalism, kindness and compassion, will be at the core of everything you do. At times, you may be the only nurse on the shift and will be responsible for leading and managing the care team to ensure that high standards of nursing and personal care are met, providing clinical leadership and guidance where necessary. You will deliver, monitor, and re-evaluate care needs in partnership with each resident, their key carers, family members and the wider team at the home, as well as liaising effectively with GPs, hospitals and external agencies.

The role is incredibly rewarding, and you will regularly be presented with a wide range of clinical experiences to develop your skills and opportunities for career development , all delivered in a nurturing, engaging, and rewarding environment.

AND IN RETURN

The rewards for our Nurses are great. Our roles offer greater flexibility in working patterns, more autonomy with decision making, the opportunity to build close relationships with the residents in your care in a consultative, case-management role.

The Trust is a great place to work; we’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in. Therefore, we offer a great range of benefits, including a competitive salary, training and development.

Here are some of the other benefits you will enjoy as a valued member of our team:

  • Higher rates of pay at weekends
  • Fully funded renewal of your NMC PIN
  • A Company pension
  • Free uniform
  • Free DBS
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Refer a Friend scheme rewarding you up to £1000 for every recommendation you make who successfully starts working for us
  • Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering you discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
ABOUT YOU

You will be a qualified Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse and currently registered with NMC. You will have post-registration experience, able to evidence continuing professional development activities and comfortable working autonomously. You will have a clear understanding of regulatory frameworks and also have experience of or be willing to t rain in:

  • Medication administration
  • End of life care
  • Verification of death
  • Venepuncture
  • Diabetic awareness
  • Tissue viability
  • Epilepsy awareness
  • Management of deterioration – sepsis awareness

You will be a positive role model, with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build positive working relationships. As a supportive leader, you will motivate your team to always deliver the best possible care to our residents.
