Job summary

Qualifications

  • Support the delivery of endoscopy services under the supervision of the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge.
  • Participate in the entire patient pathway from pre-admission to discharge.
  • Contribute to the safe operation of the endoscopy unit.

Position Overview

We are seeking flexible Endoscopy Practitioners to join our bank staff as we expand throughout the UK. This role offers the opportunity to take control of your rota with flexible shifts that suit your schedule. The primary responsibilities include supporting the delivery of endoscopy services such as gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoidal banding, under the supervision of the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge.

Main duties of the job
  1. Work as part of a team under the guidance of the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge to provide excellent patient care.
  2. Participate in the entire patient pathway from pre-admission to procedure, recovery, and discharge.
  3. Contribute to the safe and effective operation of the endoscopy unit and support CQC and JAG accreditation activities.
Job responsibilities
  • Perform clinical tasks and assist in training others as appropriate.
  • Carry out site intravenous access for patients requesting sedation, when competent.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient endoscopy list flow in accordance with CHEC Endoscopy SOPs and policies.
  • Prepare clinical areas daily for procedures.
  • Participate in accreditation and ongoing training requirements.
  • Maintain a passion for patient care, demonstrating compassion and excellent communication skills.
  • Pay attention to detail and demonstrate eagerness to learn.
  • Exhibit good listening skills and logical thinking.
  • Work effectively within a team.
Person Specification
Experience
  • Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in endoscopy or similar clinical setting.
  • Experience with JAG accreditation processes.
  • Committed to high-quality patient safety and care.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
