Job summary

Cygnet Newham House in the UK is seeking an outstanding Bank Chef with a passion for food to support care residents. Flexible bank hours per week at our 20-bed neuropsychiatric facility ensure nourishing menus within budget, in a warm, therapeutic environment where staff support is strong.

You will prepare meals, accommodate special diets, and liaise with nursing staff to meet dietary needs while maintaining high hygiene standards. DBS checks apply and progression opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• Holder of a food hygiene certificate with good personal hygiene standards.
• Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706:1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3.
• Excellent communicator capable of liaising with all levels of staff.
• Able to work independently and within a team under supervision.
• Comfortable planning nourishing menus within budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals.
• Provide special diets, considering individual preferences & needs.
• Liaise with nursing staff to meet patients' nutritional needs.
• Maintain kitchen and dining area cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and COSHH procedures.
• Manage and store kitchen equipment in line with procedures.

Cygnet Newham House is our 20-bed neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility providing rehabilitation for women affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI). The hospital is a modern, purpose-built facility, designed specifically to provide a clinically-led evidence-based neuropsychiatric pathway for individuals presenting with behaviours that challenge as a result of their ABI. Your day-to-day...

• Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetisin g meals
• Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences & needs
• Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients nutritional & dietary needs
• Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
