Job summary

Thorn Baker Industrial is recruiting for a experienced Bandsaw Operative to join our Markham Vale site in Chesterfield. The role focuses on operating horizontal bandsaw machinery to cut steel and metal to precise specifications, following technical drawings and cutting lists.

You will work Monday to Friday, with a long-term temp-to-perm path, and receive training and development opportunities as part of a committed engineering team. Immediate start available at Markham Vale.

Qualifications

• Experience operating bandsaws and cutting metal to spec.
• Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Comfort working with heavy materials and reading drawings/cutting lists.
• Reliability and strong health and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal bandsaws to cut metal/steel to spec.
• Set and adjust machinery to meet cutting requirements.
• Read technical drawings, cutting lists and job specs.
• Measure finished parts using verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure material specifications.
• Load/unload heavy materials safely and efficiently.
• Follow production schedules and daily targets.
• Maintain a clean, safe working area and PPE procedures.

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Bandsaw Operative, Saw Operator or Machine Operative to join an established engineering and metal stockholding business based in Markham Vale.

This is a long-term temp-to-perm opportunity for someone with previous experience in bandsaw operation, metal cutting, machine operation, engineering or manufacturing.

The Role

As a Bandsaw Operative, you will be responsible for operating horizontal bandsaw machinery to cut steel, metal and alloy materials accurately to specification.

Your duties will include:

• Operating horizontal bandsaws to cut metal and steel materials
• Setting and adjusting machinery to meet cutting requirements
• Working from technical drawings, cutting lists and job specifications
• Measuring finished materials using verniers, micrometers and gauges
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure materials meet required specifications
• Loading and unloading heavy materials safely
• Following production schedules and meeting daily targets
• Maintaining a clean and safe working area
• Following all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a:

• Metal Cutting Operative

Experience within engineering, manufacturing, steel, metal, fabrication or other industrial environments would be highly beneficial.

You should also be comfortable working with heavy materials, using measuring equipment and reading technical drawings or cutting lists.

Reliability, good attention to detail and a strong approach to health and safety are essential.
