Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated UK experienced and HCPC registered sonographer to take on the role of a job-share with the existing manager. Role and responsibilities
  • As a band 8A Manager you will be expected to provide a supportive learning environment for trainee sonographers.
  • You will be expected to support participation and leadership of the centrally registered audit and continuous improvement programmes.
  • The Trust ultrasound department is based at Queens Hospital, King Georges Hospital, and satellite CDCs in Hornchurch and Barking.
  • The post holder will act as a Site Lead Ultrasound Manager in a job share with the existing Site Lead Manager and will be responsible for managing and upholding a safe and effective Ultrasound Imaging Service. The post holder will mainly undertake managerial duties but on occasions may be required to take on a clinical role.
  • They will provide regular feedback and work with the other Site modality Lead Ultrasound Managers on compliance with key performance indicators for this service and will provide supervision and specialist advice and expertise to the ultrasound team of Sonographers, Students, and support workers, in addition to the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • They will ensure all aspects of clinical governance are delivered and monitored including leading regular peer review audits and action plans, liaising with the Practice Educator Lead Sonographer, Site Modality Lead Sonographers and Clinical Lead Sonographers to ensure effective plans for learning needs identified such as inductions and clinical competencies of new staff.
  • There will be management oversight of the rota to ensure we are meeting the demands of the DMOl incorporating 2 week waits and urgent patients. They will actively develop the service in conjunction with national and local NHS guidelines and directives and ensure that staff promote patient advocacy and communicate effectively with other health care professionals.
About the Trust and location

The Trust ultrasound department operates from two main sites – King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, with satellite CDCs at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub.

We have two busy emergency departments serving a population of more than 330,000 visits last year. We are working to transform the A&E and have opened two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in KGH. Our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford and an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, along with CDCs, support our services.
