The CNS contributes to the provision of specialist palliative care in the North
Camden community for patients facing life-limiting illnesses (within the remit of
the multi- disciplinary team) accepting patient referrals to agreed criteria and
managing their own caseload with the support of the Lead Nurse and
Consultant Nurse. They will provide advice, education and support to patients,
their carers and other health and social care professionals. They will contribute
to the development and smooth running of the service. The post holder will
work to agreed professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required to
provide patient centred seamless care and will take part in the 7 day / week
service to both community and hospital patients.

Main duties of the job

You should be creative, enthusiastic, and motivated with:

Broad and extensive post registration experience of working with acutely sick patients, emotionally distressed patients and their families, and terminally ill adults.
Excellent interpersonal skills
The ability to work autonomously and as a team member
Hold a first degree and post registration qualifications in oncology, palliative care, community nursing or other appropriate medical speciality.
Demonstrate extensive teaching experience.

  • Post registration qualification in palliative care / cancer care / community nursing other medical speciality at level 3
  • Post registration teaching qualification i.e.City and Guilds Certificate or extensive teaching experience

  • Experience and consolidation of registered nursing with evidence of development in a leadership role.
