Overview

A vacancy at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for a qualified HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to join our band 6 OT neurological rehabilitation rotation.

You will work as part of the interdisciplinary teams at West Midlands Rehab Centre and Moseley Hall Hospital, providing a quality Occupational Therapy service to clients with complex impairments (predominantly significant neurological disability). The post holder will be accountable for a designated caseload, working collaboratively with other Occupational Therapists and the multidisciplinary team to ensure client needs are met.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver rehabilitation programs and interventions within local and/or regional remits, which may take place in the hospital unit, client’s home or in the community, potentially involving travel and time spent driving.
  • Rotate annually between services:
    • West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre: Specialist Neuro-rehabilitation and complex disability; Access to communication and technology (2 year post).
    • Moseley Hall Hospital and outpatient services: Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Unit; Birmingham Neurological Rehabilitation Team; Moor Green outpatient brain injury unit.
  • Assess and manage neurology patients with complex disability; work flexibly to meet the demands of different services.
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills, prioritisation of workload, time management, and knowledge of up-to-date clinical practices including evidence-based approaches.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues and other agencies; produce written communications that are relevant, concise, accurate and legible.
  • Be a car driver to enable travel to community patients and travel between service bases and communities as required.
