Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Pre-Assessment team as a Band 6 specialist. The post is permanent with full- and part-time options and flexible working hours.

The team assesses patients prior to surgery, identifying risks and coordinating investigations to optimise outcomes. The role includes leadership responsibilities, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to education sessions.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current UK NMC registration.
• Experience in surgical specialties.
• Pre-assessment course and relevant practice experience.
• Mentor/assessor for students and learners.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a high-quality clinical assessment service to patients attending the pre-assessment clinic.
• Work autonomously while managing caseloads with support from the team.
• Contribute to development and training of staff within the unit.
• Take charge of the unit when needed and participate in appraisals and recruitment.
• Support flexible hours including early shifts and weekend clinics.
