Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian based in Banbury to join our community Dietetics team. This ongoing, full-time locum role focuses on home enteral feeding across Oxfordshire, delivering specialist nutrition support in homes, schools and digital clinics.

You will assess paediatric patients, develop feeding regimens, participate in MDTs, supervise students, and provide training to nursing and school staff while upholding safeguarding and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registered Dietitian
  • BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • Paediatric caseload experience
  • Previous Band 5 or Band 6 level experience
  • Knowledge of enteral feeding and nutritional support
  • PEG/NG/PEG-J feeding knowledge
  • Assessment and care planning for complex cases
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Experience in multidisciplinary teams
  • Competence in teaching and training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Safeguarding and risk management understanding
  • Autonomy in managing a specialist caseload
  • Car driver

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist dietetic assessment and treatment for paediatric home enterally fed patients.
  • Manage a complex caseload of babies, children, and young adults needing enteral nutrition support.
  • Develop and review enteral feeding regimens and nutritional care plans.
  • Assess nutritional requirements using clinical, biochemical, and dietary methods.
  • Advise on weaning, blended diets, thickened fluids, and modified textures.
  • Attend MDT meetings and contribute to decision-making and capacity assessments.
  • Conduct home, school, telephone, and digital consultations.
  • Monitor growth, nutritional status, and treatment outcomes.
  • Offer specialist dietary advice to families, carers, and professionals.
  • Deliver training to community nurses, school nurses, health visitors, and allied health professionals.
  • Support clinical audit, quality improvement, and research projects.
  • Supervise students and support junior staff where appropriate.

  • Membership of the BDA or relevant Specialist Interest Group
  • Completion of post-registration paediatric clinical courses
  • Skills in motivational interviewing and behavioural change
  • Experience supervising students
