Main duties of the job
  • To work in the brand new, state-of-the-art Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre (HOC) based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, working with orthopaedic surgeons from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and other members of the MDT
  • To support the team with supervising junior staff members, therapy support workers and students
  • Support clinics such as patient education and elective arthroplasty follow up clinics
  • Lead and oversee the pre-operative therapy assessment process, ensuring that patients home environments are fully prepared for elective hip and knee surgery. Work alongside and supervise a team of therapy technicians to facilitate timely and effective assessments.
  • To take part and lead in the robust in service training programme to the team and wider MDT
  • When required, support the orthopaedic therapy team cross site
  • To take an active role in service development, quality improvement and other projects within the department and Trust
  • Deputise for the team lead when they are absent
  • Take part in the weekend rota
  • Work autonomously, utilising your analytical and clinical reasoning skills to optimise patient recovery, and discharge planning. Provide guidance on returning to daily activities, including self-care, mobility within th e home, work and leisure.
