Job summary

A Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner is sought for placement with an NHS client in Wales, with remote working options. The role involves completing mental health assessments, often via video or telephone, and may require weekly on-site attendance after an initial induction week.

The position is full-time, short-term, and invites candidates with registration, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage workload independently. Remote working is possible depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification and registration for the role.
• Proven experience undertaking mental health assessments.
• Confidence conducting assessments via telephone and video.
• Strong communication and clinical assessment skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good IT and record-keeping skills.
• Availability for a full-time, short-term assignment.
• Ability to attend on-site induction during the first week and further on-site days as required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mental health assessments for individuals accessing the service.
• Conduct assessments via video or telephone where appropriate.
• Support the identification of mental health needs and determine appropriate next steps.
• Provide appropriate advice, support and onward referrals as required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support effective patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional standards.
• Attend on-site induction during the first week.
• Attend the service location thereafter as required, potentially one day per week depending on experience.
