Job description

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, ambitious diagnostic radiographer to join our friendly and forward-thinking Radiology team. This is an ideal opportunity for an HCPC registered radiographer wishing to increase their radiographic experience and expertise in a bustling and team-focused department.

Our internal training and support have long been a draw for candidates, enabling many radiographers to develop skills for career progression and advanced practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake clinical work on rotation through the department under the lead radiographers, maintaining high standards.
  • Act as lead radiographer in general X-ray and on-call duties, coordinating patient throughput and supervising radiographic staff and students.
  • Reduce patient radiation dose during examinations using collimation and proper positioning.
  • Follow IR(ME)R and IRR99 guidelines, staying updated with standards and reporting doses and incidents appropriately.
  • Complete required training, seek advice on new situations, and ensure competency sheets are signed off timely.
  • Perform complex CT scans independently or during out-of-hours, including IV cannulation and contrast media administration.

Person specification

Education and qualifications

  • HCPC registration
  • IV cannulation

Skills and abilities

  • Perform high-standard plain film X-rays, including adaptive techniques
  • Conduct non-contrast and contrast-enhanced CT scans
  • Assist with fluoroscopy/interventional procedures

Experience

  • Previous NHS experience and supervisory ability
  • Experience in Cath Lab and Cardiac CT imaging
  • Knowledge of Soliton RIS, Sectra PACS, CareFlow
  • Teamwork, independence, and reflection skills
