Job description

Band 5 Staff Nurse - Renal & Urology Outpatients

The post holder will be a skilled member of the nursing team caring for patients. You will be expected to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate high standards of care to patients and their families, in accordance with our values, policies, and available resources. You will also supervise and teach junior nursing staff within the Renal and Urology outpatients unit.

Main duties of the job

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to delivering personalized patient care under the supervision of the unit's manager and matron. The primary role of the registered nurse in outpatients is to support colleagues and service users in a busy outpatient department. The nurse will provide clinical and clerical support to ensure efficient and responsive services across all areas and specialties. The nurse must be able to work independently, providing a safe, caring, and customer-focused environment for patients and relatives. Responsibilities include opening and closing the department, and supporting training for junior staff and healthcare support workers.

  • Ward experience and exposure to renal and urology care are essential.
  • This is a full-time position - 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm or 10am-6pm. It does not suit candidates seeking compressed hours, night, or weekend shifts.
