The Endoscopy Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead is seeking a Staff Nurse or ODP to join a high-performing team. The role involves pre-assessing patients and supporting the endoscopy pathway while maintaining high standards of care and equipment.
You will work with a multidisciplinary team and may contribute to training and development within the department. Nurses with endoscopy experience are welcome, though not essential.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring Staff Nurse or ODP to join us in the Endoscopy Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
Endoscopy is a fast-paced specialist service that offers a unique nursing experience. We are committed to offering world class endoscopy training and are subscribed to the JAG JETs training system which provides our nurses with nationally recognised accreditation for the skills and knowledge they acquire during their development pathway.
We are a JAG accredited Bowel Cancer Screening centre and are proud of the standards we have achieved.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly-skilled team responsible for the pre assessment of patients requiring an endoscopic procedure as well as working in the endoscopy department.
The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to demonstrate leadership skills, work proactively as part of a successful team and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. They must also be able to manage their time effectively and work flexibly to meet the ever-changing requirements of the service both within the department and also Trust-wide.
You will be a 1st Level Staff Nurse with evidence of ongoing professional development.
Endoscopy experience would be beneficial, although not essential.
You will be pre assessing patients to assess their suitability for endoscopic procedures and manage the patient pathway. As well as supporting our Gastrointestinal, Urological, Gynaecological and Respiratory patients through all stages of their procedure pathway, whilst also ensuring that the endoscopic equipment is maintained according to our high standards.
