  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development
  • Evidence of training/update on lower GI therapeutic endoscopic intervention
  • Cannulation
  • Nurse prescriber
  • Hold or be working towards a master’s degree
  • BoSS registered endoscopist or willingness to train to undertake the role.

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a dynamic Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist to support our Endoscopy Service at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Innovation in service delivery and flexibility to work within the needs of the service are key requirements of this role.

The post holder will be able to undertake Upper GI endoscopy as a qualified Nurse Endoscopist. The post holder will work autonomously, managing whole episodes of patient care independent of medical supervision. They will be a key member of the Multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will have their own caseload of patients for whom they will perform upper gastro-intestinal diagnostic endoscopy.

The appointee will play a key role in providing a high quality, efficient, patient focused in the endoscopy service.

The post will be based at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

We welcome applications from Graduate visa holders; it is important to note that you must have a minimum of 6 months before this expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Main duties of the job

- The post holder will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical knowledge, skills and decision-making within the Endoscopy/Gastroenterology service.

- Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist To work as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing a high-quality service meeting the physical and emotional requirements for both inpatients and outpatients undergoing procedures within the Endoscopy and Treatment Unit.

  • BoSS (Barrett’s Oesophagus Surveillance Study) registered endoscopist or willingness to train to undertake the role.

  • Significant experience in a nursing post in Endoscopy
  • Considerable experience of working as a nurse endoscopist in a hospital setting
  • Experience in running lists
  • Able to perform Upper GI diagnostic endoscopy
  • Achievement of high quality patient care through evidenced based practice
  • Expert knowledge in anatomy and physiology of the GI tract
