Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised, highly motivated individual to join our Pathology Blood Transfusion team as an Associate Practitioner at BHRUT. Applications are invited for the post of Associate Practitioner to work within the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, covering both Queen's hospital and King George hospital.
The post offers significant opportunities for personal development and service improvements. Essential qualities include excellent computer skills, attention to detail, good personal organisation, and awareness of quality control processes, along with a positive attitude towards the role.
You should have a qualification in medical laboratory sciences/technology. Previous biomedical laboratory experience is desirable.
We're an organisation committed to continuous improvement, driven by a determination to deliver high-quality care that satisfies our patients. We are no longer in special measures; we've opened two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital (KGH), and our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal.
Our operations span two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We serve over 330,000 visitors annually in our emergency departments. We are campaigning for £35m to transform the A&E at Queen's and eliminate corridor care.
Our patients benefit from facilities such as the Women's Health Hub in Ilford, the Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch.
These CDCs operate 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing an additional 88,000 scans annually.
Our diverse staff of 8,000 people from 146 countries, including many from black, Asian, and minority ethnic groups, work flexibly. Over 400 staff are enrolled in Ofsted-accredited apprenticeships. We are proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
We are excited about implementing an electronic patient record system that will benefit both staff and patients.
