Job summary
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a detail-oriented person to join our Aseptic Services team. In this role you will assist in chemotherapy and CIVAS/OPAT preparation, maintain clean facilities and monitor quality, while training staff and supporting daily activity in a busy hospital pharmacy.
You will contribute to safe pharmaceutical care, work with the specialist team, and help ensure adherence to SOPs and health and safety standards across all sites in the West
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English grade C or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and BTEC Level 2 Pharmaceutical Science.
- Accredited Dispensing Assistants Course.
- Evidence of team experience and customer relations.
- Understanding of Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, stock control and dispensing processes.
- Ability to travel to all UHB sites.
Responsibilities
- Aseptically prepare chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and CIVAS/OPAT.
- Perform specialised cleaning duties and environmental monitoring and quality assurance checks.
- Maintain equipment and facilities to the highest standards.
- Undertake self-checking and ensure accuracy throughout processes.
- Participate in induction and training of staff.

Join our Pharmacy Team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust! Are you detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills and a passion for healthcare? We're seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals with aseptic experience to join our expanding specialised Aseptic Services team. The Cancer Services Division at UHB delivers world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology, delivered by a team of specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers. In this vital role, you'll be at the heart of our pharmacy operations, supporting the Specialist Pharmacy Technician in overseeing daily activities and aseptically preparing chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and CIVAS/OPAT medications in a controlled environment. You'll ensure patients receive safe, high-quality pharmaceutical care through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to strict quality standards. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to professional development in pharmaceutical services. You should be comfortable participating in the training and development of other staff members.
The post holder will:
- Aseptically prepare chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and CIVAS/OPAT
- Perform specialised cleaning duties and essential environmental monitoring and quality assurance checks
- Maintain equipment and facilities to the highest standards
- Undertake self-checking and ensure accuracy throughout all processes
- Participate in the induction and training of staff in areas of responsibility

- GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)

- Evidence of previous work experience relevant to the position such as warehouse or stores, reception duties etc
