Band 3 Peer Support Worker- Domestic Abuse

The role of a Peer Support Worker (PSW) Domestic Abuse has been developed specifically for individuals with lived experience of domestic abuse challenges. By sharing their wisdom, peer support workers aim to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery and a fulfilling life beyond these experiences are possible. They make a positive contribution to others' lives through their lived experience.

Main duties of the job

The PSW will lead in integrating peer support values within a designated clinical pathway, collaborating with other Trust recovery and Domestic Abuse champions, and act as an ambassador of Peer Support for the Trust with external agencies and partner organizations. As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, the PSW will provide formal peer support and practical assistance to service users based on their mental health goals.

Using their own lived experience, PSWs will inspire hope and belief that these goals are achievable, recognizing that each individual's recovery is unique and personal. They will work in mutuality with service users to help recognize strengths and identify meaningful aspects of life, fostering hope, purpose, and social connection.

As part of the team, the PSW will perform duties aligned with our peer support core competencies framework and work with service users on a 1:1 and/or group basis. There will be opportunities for innovation and ongoing development as the role is established.
