Job description

The role of a Peer Support Worker (PSW) in Domestic Abuse has been developed specifically for individuals who have their own lived experience of the challenges associated with domestic abuse. By sharing their wisdom, peer support workers aim to inspire hope and demonstrate that life beyond these experiences is possible. They contribute positively to others' lives by leveraging their lived experience.

Note: This advert is for Female applicants only. By proceeding, you confirm that you are female.

The PSW will take a lead role in integrating peer support values within a designated clinical pathway, working alongside other Trust recovery and Domestic Abuse champions. They will act as an ambassador of Peer Support for the Trust, engaging with external agencies and partner organisations. As an essential member of the multidisciplinary team, the PSW will provide formal peer support and practical assistance to service users, based on their individual mental health goals.

Using their lived experience, the PSW will inspire hope and belief in the possibility of recovery, recognizing that each person's journey is unique. They will work in a relationship of mutuality with service users to help recognize their strengths and identify aspects of life that provide meaning, hope, and purpose. The PSW will facilitate information sharing to promote choice, self-determination, and opportunities for fulfilling socially valued roles and community connections.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the PSW will perform duties aligned with our peer support core competencies framework, working with service users on a 1:1 and/or group basis. There will be opportunities for innovation and ongoing development as the role evolves.
