Band 3 Healthcare Assistant – Short Term Care Beds

Supporting a Home First approach is at the heart of our service. While many patients can return home directly following a hospital admission, some require a short-term stay in a rehabilitation setting providing 24-hour care and support. Our Recovery Hubs play a vital role in facilitating timely hospital discharge and preventing avoidable admissions.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support patients with their personal care, daily living activities, and rehabilitation programmes, helping them regain independence and achieve their goals. You will work closely with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Main Duties of the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant within our Short-Term Care Beds service, you will provide high-quality care and support to patients requiring short-term inpatient rehabilitation. Working alongside nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, you will support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition, rehabilitation activities, and daily living tasks, helping them regain independence and achieve their recovery goals.

You will assist with implementing care plans and rehabilitation programmes, undertake and record delegated clinical observations, maintain accurate documentation, and promptly report any changes in a patient's condition. You will also contribute to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, whilst supporting safe and timely discharge planning.

A key aspect of the role is motivating and encouraging patients to maximise their independence and actively participate in their recovery. You will work closely with patients, families, and carers to provide compassionate, person-centred care.

This role is part of a 24-hour, 7-day service. The post holder will be required to work a mixture of long day shifts (07:45 to 20:15) and night shifts (19:45 to 08:15), including weekends and bank holidays, on a rotational basis. Flexibility to work both day and night shifts is essential.
